Participation Cost:
To participate in the challenge, there is a registration fee of $35.
The cost of the challenge will be allocated towards covering the final prizes and
preparation
for the
in-person workshop.
Minimum Participants:
The challenge will commence only if there are at least 4 participants.
Audience and Experience:
The coding challenge is open to everyone, regardless of their previous coding
experience.
The primary focus is on self-education and skill development.
Challenge Structure:
The challenge spans 9 weeks and includes one in-person coding workshop in week
10, followed
by a prize
presentation and celebration.
Weekly Challenges:
Every Friday, participants will receive a coding challenge.
A video will be provided explaining the challenge, its requirements, and
essential
programming concepts to
assist in building the project.
Submission Deadline:
Participants have one week to complete each project.
Projects must be submitted by 8:30 am on the following Friday.
All projects must be done in the Trinket online coding editor.
Participants are required to share the Trinket URL when submitting their
projects.
Points:
Participants earn 5 points for each properly working submitted project.
Participants earn 3 points if project is partially completed or has minor errors
Additional Points:
Additional points can be earned for creativity beyond the project description (+1
point) and
for code quality
(e.g., clean code, achieving the same result with fewer lines of code, +1
point).
Submitting before deadline also received +1 point
The first person to submit a project within the week also receives an extra +1
point.
Late Submissions:
Projects can be submitted anytime before 15th December
No additional points will be awarded for creativity or code quality for late
submissions.
Winner Selection:
The winner will be determined by the participant who submits all 9 projects and
accumulates
the most points.
Prizes:
Prizes will be awarded in the following manner:
- 1st place: $50 gift card
- 2nd place: $30 gift card
- 3rd place: $20 gift card
Progress Board:
A progress board will be maintained, updated weekly, to display each
participant's projects
and the number of
points received.
This board will help track participants' progress throughout the challenge.
Questions and Assistance:
Participants can send up to 2 questions per project.
For each additional question beyond this limit, 0.5 points will be deducted from
their total
score.
Clarifications will be provided by pointing out mistakes or areas to focus on,
rather than
direct answers.
Refund policy:
Coding Zone reserves the right to cancel the event in case of insufficient participants. A full refund will be provided
if the event is cancelled by Coding Zone. However, no refund will be available within 3 days before the event start date
or once the Coding Challenge has already begun.
